Simple Ways Busy Moms can jump start their Summer Bodies
I’m working on losing 10 lbs., a goal I shared with you all a few weeks ago and I must let y’all know that I’m getting there by making good food choices, and exercising.
To reach my goals I’m keeping things as simple as possible when it comes to eating and exercising.
Simple Exercise Routine
With my exercise routines I don’t over complicate things. I’m either working on my upper body or lower body. I break my exercises down into upper, lower, front and back. So one day I work the upper front part of my body (chest, biceps, and abs) and another the lower front part of my body (thighs and shins). I repeat the same process for the upper and lower muscles at the back of my body.
Simple Meal Ideas
For my meals I’m incorporating the new Freestyle™ program with zero Points® foods and Weight Watchers® products into my meal planning and shopping trips.
The Freestyle™ program with zero Points® foods and Weight Watchers® products take the work out of eating well. The program still encourages you to eat more fruits, veggies, lean protein, and less sugar and unhealthy fats, but now there are over 200+ zero Points® foods, like eggs, skinless chicken breast, seafood, corn, beans and peas that you don’t ever have to portion or track.
With that in mind, I’m pairing my zero Points® foods with some of my favorite Weight Watchers® bread products.
My favorites now are the Weight Watchers Endorsed Flatout® Flatbreads and Arnold® Sandwich Thins rolls endorsed by Weight Watchers®. These two breads are my favorite go-to, quick meal starters. I use these as the base for most of my wraps, pizzas, fajitas, and breakfast sandwiches.
Weight Watchers Endorsed Flatout® Flatbreads
The Weight Watchers Endorsed Flatout® Flatbreads are high in protein and fiber which my body needs to build muscle and discard waste. One package provides the base for several simple meals throughout the week, but my favorite recipe is flatbread pizza. When I don’t feel like making pizza dough from scratch one flatbread is the perfect substitute. Just one flatbread is the perfect size for lunch. Topped with cheese and veggies, it’s ready in 3-5 minutes.
Arnold® Sandwich Thins rolls endorsed by Weight Watchers®
The Arnold® Sandwich Thins rolls endorsed by Weight Watchers® is what I’ve been using for Avocado toast in the mornings instead of sliced bread. Working the fiber packed Arnold®Sandwich Thins rolls endorsed by Weight Watchers® into my breakfast helps me move waste through my body and aid in digestion. A lot of excess weight can be caused by undigested food so fiber is a must to help me reach my weight loss goal. The Arnold® Sandwich Thins rolls endorsed by Weight Watchers® come in 100% Whole Wheat, Honey Wheat, and Flax & Fiber so I can switch up the options each week to create different meals. The simplest, is a toasted roll topped with a half of an avocado sliced.
Those have been my go-to’s for meals, but don’t think that I’m all clean eating and no desserts of snacks. I absolutely enjoy and indulgent treat once in a while, but I’m thoughtful about the amount of sugar is in the product. My go-to indulgent desserts are frozen ones. Instead of going with my old favorites, I’ve really started reading labels and looking at the amount of sugar and fat are in each product.
For desserts, I stick to fresh fruit, 100% frozen fruit bars and my husbands favorite, fudge bars.
Weight Watchers® Ice Cream Novelties
The Weight Watchers® Giant Fudge bars, made from low-fat milk are a great option. They are pretty substantial in size and individually wrapped for perfect portion control. Each bar is under 100 calories and have a Lower SmartPoints® value per serving than regular ice cream or other “frozen novelties”. And don’t worry about the sugar, because these have no artificial sweeteners and only 13 grams of sugar per bar. One or two bars on the weekend makes these the perfect reward for eating right during the week.
Weight Watchers® has several different varieties of bars and cones all available at Walmart.
My last key to jump starting my summer body is tracking my progress. I don’t obsess in this area. My focus is definitely not on the number of pounds lost or calories consumed. What I track is how often I am doing things that get me closer to my health goals. Some of the things I track are below.
- How often I exercise per week
- How many ounces of water I consume per day
- Whether or not I took my vitamins
- How many calories I burned
- How long I worked out
I do look at my weight, but I don’t track it. I just don’t buy into the number on the scale as the only indicator of success. I observe my effort, to see how I look and feel. Right now I am 133 pounds and it’s the most I’ve weighed without being preggers so I know my body is holding weight as I age. While I’d love to be around 125 pounds I understand I am at a healthy weight and am making good choices so I’m content.
I hope my strategy gives you some inspiration on your journey to fitness. If you want to try these recipes, you can find these Weight Watchers endorsed products at Walmart.
