To make a house a home, every room should have a story. Whether you live in an apartment, condo or house you should figure out how you can best use the space to make it inspire you. Ever since I lived on my own, I’ve taken the time to create a space that inspires me and makes me happy being in it.
My bedroom and living room are my favorite rooms in our home. My husband and I worked together on the feel we wanted for both spaces and they’ve become a mini retreat for us. We hang out mostly in our bedroom, but when we have movie night or friends over, we hang out in the living room.
This room has been a little neglected lately with it being so cold and dreary. But the recent warm weather inspired me to spruce things up.
I wanted a way to bring the room back to life within thirty minutes and I knew four things I could use in the space to change the atmosphere.
I chose the following four things to appeal to my sense of sight, smell and touch.
2. Glade® PlugIns® Scented Oil
This what the room looked like before and after adding the four elements. It was pretty much a clean slate before.
4 P’s for Prepping Your Living Room For Spring
1. Use pillows to add color and texture to your space. To prep my living room for spring, first I added some pillows to my couch. I used calming blues and earth tones that remind me of the beach. This room gets beautiful bright sunlight during the warmer months and I love seeing the sun reflect on the silver detail in the pillows.
Plants, Photos & Glade® PlugIns® Scented Oil
2. Plants bring in color, but also add visual depth to a room. I updated my coffee table by removing the holiday decor and replacing it with a vignette. To add color and visual depth, I bought in a simple green plant in a vibrant vase.
3. Photos can be used to highlight and share memories.
Beside the plant, I framed a picture of my husband and I from Valentine’s Day a few years ago. Lastly, I added a candle from the NEW Atmosphere Collection™ Fine Home Fragrance by Glade®. The collection has four scents that come as a jar candle or PlugIns® Scented Oil. The scent on my coffee table is N°3 in the collection and it’s called Free™. It smells like a sweet mix of starfruit, and coconut. I love that the scent makes me feel like I’m sitting on the beach relaxing. It’s perfect for the feel I want in here.
We’ll use it mostly when we’re in here watching movies.
4. PlugIns® Scented Oil finalizes the atmosphere by providing a scent that inspires you.
I brought in one more plant to place beside the television area. We’ve moved our gaming console in here and the power cord is huge. The plant works to hide the game console cord and my Glade® PlugIns® Scented Oil.
I use Glade® PlugIns® Scented Oil, instead of the jar candle when we have guests over. Most of my friends and family have little kids and the Glade® PlugIns® Scented Oil Warmers are better when we have a crowd.
Place your Glade® PlugIns® Scented Oil Warmer in the socket thirty minutes before guests arrive. The scent from these PlugIns® Scented Oil Warmers will fill the room fast and linger for what seems like hours. I’ve had that thirty-minute burst last from the afternoon into the evening while entertaining guests.
That’s one reason why I’ve used Glade® PlugIns® Scented Oil in the main rooms of my home for years. The scents are amazing and they linger helping me get more bang for my buck.
The Plug-Ins® Scented Oil scent I’m using now is also from the NEW Atmosphere Collection™ Fine Home Fragrance by Glade®. It’s scent N°2 in the collection and it’s called Bright™. It smells very light, sweet and fresh. The fruity scent fits perfect with the atmosphere I want in this room.
By bringing in pillows, photos, plants and PlugIns® Scented Oil I created a space that appeals to my different senses. With 4 simple things, I’ve refreshed our living room and gotten it ready to use for spring.
