Why I Prep My Office Every Friday

There are three things that tend to make me grumpy. Not getting enough sleep, not eating when I’m hungry, and clutter.

Every Friday I plan a no-work day and use that time to prep my desk for the next work week.

Planning ahead has always helped me ward off stress and a grumpy attitude. On Fridays, I like to de-clutter my office and put things back in their proper place. It’s really quick because I have things pretty organized already. The two main spaces in my office are my shelves and desk.
Starting with my shelves, I make sure all of my supplies, folders and books are back in their place. 

Starting the new work week with a clean office is key to being more productive and less grumpy.

Next, I work on prepping my desk. I start by making sure my planning journals, pads and writing tools are all back in their place. I use them for planning my day, taking notes and mind dumps. Being able to find a pad or journal quickly keeps my stress levels down.

It’s aggravating looking for something and not being able to find it. It’s a time waste I try to avoid. Little things like order makes me happier.

To prep my desk, I also refill the candy jars with a few SNICKERS® bars. I usually get some for me and the kids. My kids are a lot like me when they’re hungry. They tend get grumpy and they will quickly take it out on their siblings.

I normally plan after-school snacks for them, but sometimes I don’t get to it so I keep SNICKERS® on my desk as a back up. 

SNICKERS®has been one of my favorite candy bars for years. It’s the one I grab at the register when I’m running errands and know it will be awhile before I can eat.

Earlier in the week I stopped by Dollar General and grabbed a few SNICKERS® Almond for me and a bag of SNICKERS® Peanut Butter Squares for the kids. I plan on making a sweet dessert for them, using the recipes on the SNICKERS® social hub.

I bought one of each color for my office and love the pop of color they add to my space. 

Once my office is organized on Friday I close the door until Monday.

The best part of taking the time to prepare is when I open the door Monday morning and see a neat organized office. It makes me so exited about starting the work week. It’s a great feeling and beats feeling grumpy about having to clean it up before I can get started.

  8. It is nice to have Snickers around for a grumbly tummy. 🙂 I like the idea to vacuum the baseboards. I wipe them down w/the duster a couple of times a week, but vacuuming would be faster (and easier!).

  16. I have to keep things relatively organized especially at my desk or I get grumpy too! Although having a stash of Snickers nearby would definitely help keep curb the grumpiness too!
