My favorite way to cook Eckrich Smoked Sausage or Polska Kielbasa is on the grill using Kingsford Original or Match Light Briquets. Grilling gives food an authentic smokey flavor you can’t get anywhere else. I picked up some Match Light Briquets that are easy for me to light when I’m grilling; however, my husband uses the Kingsford Original Briquets as well. If you decide to grab the Original bag, make sure you get some Kingsford Charcoal Lighter fluid to get them started.
While my husband grilled the sausages on indirect heat until they had a deep burgundy color and perfectly placed grill marks, I made some toppings.
To make a slaw for the sausages, I chopped some broccoli, cauliflower and carrots using my food processor. I didn’t even measure. I just eyeballed how much I’d need for my family of four. After that, I lightly seasoned the slaw and tossed them in a creamy ginger salad dressing. Once that was done I set it in the refrigerator and started working on a simple basil and garlic aioli.
To make the aioli I mixed one tablespoon of both crushed garlic and chopped basil with ¼ cup of Cacique Crema Mexicana. I mixed everything together in a bowl, added a pinch of salt, and put it in the refrigerator to chill.
Once everything was prepared, we started assembling the grilled sausage sandwiches.
What I love most about grilled sausage sandwiches is that everyone can choose how to make theirs ultimate for them. It’s all about using quality smoked sausage and delicious toppings. You can find all of the products I used to create these sandwiches at Publix.
