The Importance of Identifying and Parenting My Child’s Personality Type

My son is the baby of our family and hasn’t begun thinking much about life as an adult.

My job as his momma is to help him have a bright tomorrow and I think part of that begins with knowing who he is as an individual. Figuring out my son’s personality traits is done primarily through prayer, time spent with him and tons of parenting resources.

My son just started middle school and is getting closer to the grade when students are encouraged to choose a course of study. The choice is related to what they want to do in the future. So to help him narrow down his decision, I took the Dreamer Traits in Children quiz over the weekend.

Based on the results, I learned that my son is an innovator, or and idea person, with traits strong in openness, creativity and intelligence.

This is very true about him. He’s my child that often starts his sentences with, “We should…..”. He’s especially open to trying new things and is the one who suggests what our family should eat, do or see.

He’s particularly creative as well. I noticed that about him from the time he was able to choose toys. He enjoys structural toys that allow for creating, building and developing things.

Whenever I need photo-staging ideas for blog posts, especially party planning, he’s right there giving me input or researching pictures on Google.

Although he’s the youngest, he is the most open to new things. He’s usually the first to say, “yes” to new activities and is a natural leader.

According to the quiz, I can help develop these traits through reading books that stimulate his imagination, encourages him to think outside the box and solve problems.

After having taken the “Dreamer Traits in Children” quiz, I plan to be more intentional about our library days. I’ve gotten away from trips to the library as the kids have gotten older, but all of them love to read and anything that stimulates my sons personality is important.

To better parent our children, its important for us to know how our children process information, what they enjoy and how they interact with world.

If you’re unsure about your child’s traits, the Dreamer Traits in Children quiz may help. It has ten questions you answer with you child that will help determine your child’s personality style. It will provide activities suggestions you can do to further develop those traits.

I well up with excitement just dreaming about my son’s future and as a parent, I am so glad I get to be a part of who he will become.

Im very big into horoscopes and I believe that we have to treat people like they would like to be treated while at the same time remembering to treat others like you would like to be treated to have positive relationships, This is a huge plus to start learning about our kids instead of trying to force them to be anything other then themselves!

But the best thing that I got from your post is that you realize each child is different. Unique. Special. 🙂 Sometimes I think parents try to shove their kids into a specific mold, and that doesn't always work out well. I'm sure your son will grow up to be a fine young man!
