Surviving Summer Breakfast

This is a sponsored post written in partnership with General Mills. All opinions are mine.

The school year is over and we’re looking forward to making the most of summer break. This summer we’re adopting a laid back meal plan because life has gotten busy for us. We’ve been traveling more and when we’re home we don’t want breakfast prep to be an all morning event.

With all of our new adventures none of us have time to meal plan. We literally fill our Walmart Online Grocery cart with the same things every week. For breakfast we buy eggs, breakfast meats, oats, fruit and cereal like clockwork. Meal planning is seriously on autopilot even for the kids. For them we have the NEW Drumstick cereal, milk and fruit saved in the Walmart Grocery app.

They get to choose one fun cereal and one nutritious cereal for breakfast during the school year, but for summer, they can pick what they want. So we’re adding breakfast fun to this summer’s meal plan with the NEW Drumstick Classic Vanilla and Mint Chocolate cereal at Walmart!  I like the idea behind the NEW Drumstick cereal and how it adds something fun to our weekly grocery order.

We started of summer break by putting together a simple breakfast bar with everything the kids would need to enjoy their fun summer ice cream treat right into their cereal bowls. I used large glass jars to store cereal. I like being able to see how much cereal is left and if I need to restock.

The breakfast bowls are kept on the dining table to cut down on traffic jams in our little kitchen. In the morning all they need to grab is the milk and orange juice from the fridge to enjoy their bowl of cereal. Drumstick cereal comes in Classic Vanilla and Mint Chocolate flavor. We have a family size box of each which should last us two to three weeks.

Surviving Summer Breakfast Tips

1 – Place breakfast items out where they are easy to use. I like using a buffet style space or rolling cart to corral breakfast items.

2 – Choose simpler breakfast items during the summer like yummy cereals. We’ve got a few cereals we will rotate through during the summer including Drumstick Classic Vanilla and Mint Chocolate.

3 – Set a breakfast time so everyone can eat and clean up at the same time.

What’s your favorite summer breakfast?
