Starting Your Kids Early with Good Food Fuel Choices

This summer I’ve focused on getting my kids more active. We’ve signed my youngest son up for basketball and all three of the children work out with me.
There are lot’s of kids and activities at our gym so the kids get to burn off some energy and stay fit.

Before heading to the gym we eat a healthy breakfast of either oatmeal or eggs and turkey bacon. Then follow up with a smoothie.

Smoothies are so easy to make and can be packed with as much or as little nutrition as you like.

One of our quick versions include a packet of NESTLE CARNATION® BREAKFAST ESSENTIALS™ and fruit. Walmart carries CARNATION® BREAKFAST ESSENTIALS™ in chocolate, rich milk chocolate and classic french vanilla flavors. 

The french vanilla works best as a base for smoothie recipes.

An eight ounce smoothie before hitting the gym gives us everything we need to get through our workout.

After our workout, I make what fitness folks call a “recovery drink”. It’s simply a large glass of good ol’ chocolate milk using NESTLE NESQUIK®. 

This is a real treat. When my husband told me chocolate milk as a recovery drink was supported and encouraged in the fitness community I was so excited. 

I don’t eat many sweets, so being able to have a glass of chocolate milk after a workout is a treat.

Of course, this excites my kids since they love chocolate milk.
