Simple Snacks for Your Meal Plan

This #50YearsofBreakfast Simple Snacking Meal Plan shopping trip has been compensated by #CollectiveBias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone.

People always think it’s some mystery as to why I’m so skinny and fit. It’s pretty much related to what I eat and exercise. I exercise 4 to 5 days a week and I typically plan out each weeks meals at the end of the previous week. Part of my meal planning includes a before breakfast and late afternoon snack.

I don’t generally eat breakfast before I head to the gym since I don’t usually wake up hungry. Instead I make some kind of breakfast smoothie or protein drink.

Nestlé Carnation Breakfast Essentials are one of my favorites because I can make them ahead or take the package with me and add it to my beverage later.

These have been around for over 50 years, and are easy to find on the cereal aisle at Walmart.

Another good thing about Nestlé is they support Feeding America by giving back for every box purchased and they’re offering a free box of Nestlé Carnation Breakfast Essentials to someone you know.

  1. Buy any 2 Carnation Breakfast Essentials products
  2. Get a clear photo of your entire receipt and then text with keyword BREAKFAST to 811811 for submission instructions or email it to or upload your receipt to
  3. You will receive a code back once the receipt has been verified that you can share with your friends and family for a free breakfast! (up to a $7.99 value). Participants can enter by texting a number, emailing, or uploading a photo of the receipt to the website

I grew up without breakfast everyday so I like when I can support brands that give back to food related causes.

So let me show you how easy the breakfast drinks I make at home are to make.

The ones I use in the snack part of my meal plan often only require three ingredients.

  • Milk
  • Nestlé Carnation Breakfast Essentials
  • Fruit

I pop everything in the blender, pour and chug. These quick breakfast drinks are just what I need to wake me up and get me through an early morning workout.

It’s all pretty basic, but it gives your body what it needs to get going.

Once you have your breakfast powder, you can pretty much add any fruit to it and blend.

Menu planning gets easier and easier the more you do it. So start off with just one meal a week and add on from there.

What’s the last thing you made your kids for breakfast?
