Prepping Your Guest Bath for the Holidays Plus a Fall Decor Tutorial

I’m so excited we’re having Thanksgiving dinner at my house this year. I love hosting and rarely become stressed when pulling events together. I’ve learned to shop, prep and clean ahead of time so I’m not stuck doing it all the day of the event. I love making my family and friends feel at ease when they come over. I want them to feel refreshed and full of joy after having spent time with my family.

To make sure the experience is the same for me, I break my tasks down into two categories when prepping for Thanksgiving. In the weeks leading up to the special day, I focus on cleaning and decorations.

To prepare my guest bathroom for the holidays I create a list of things I need to clean. I jot down details of my overall cleaning plan including  areas that may need extra attention.

Some areas that get extra attention are ones I overlook on a regular cleaning days.

My List

1. cobwebs on the ceiling
2. dust buildup on the baseboard
3. Fingerprints on the mirrors
4. Waterspots or food prints on the faucet handle
5. Food on the light switch plate

Three weeks prior to Thanksgiving I make a list of cleaning supplies I need and make a trip to Walmart. The prices are always low and now that there’s self checkout, I can get in and out.

To clean the bathroom I bought:

1. Scrubbing Bubbles® Toilet Cleaning Gel
2. Disinfectant Scrubbing Bubbles® Bathroom Cleaner
3. Windex® Original Glass Cleaner or Windex® Original Glass Wipes
4. a handheld vacuum cleaner
5. rubber gloves
6. a cleaning cloth

I used this $1.00 on any TWO (2) Scrubbing Bubbles® Bathroom Cleaning Products coupon, but there’s also a $1.00 on any TWO (2) Windex® Products and a $5 off holiday photo with purchase promotion here

I bought Scrubbing Bubbles® Toilet Cleaning Gel and Disinfectant Scrubbing Bubbles® Bathroom Cleaner because they make cleanup fast and easy. The goal of hosting is to have fun with my guest and to do that, I can’t spend hours cleaning and scrubbing the bathroom. I spray on my Scrubbing Bubbles® foam, let it sit for a few minutes, then wipe. It’s a multi-surface cleaner so I can use this one bottle to clean several surfaces.

Two days before Thanksgiving I tackle my guest bath by giving the toilet a good scrub and applying Scrubbing Bubbles® Toilet Cleaning Gel to keep it fresh until the big day. The toilet now has a thorough deep clean and will smell fresh when my guest arrive.

Windex® Original Glass Cleaner is just as helpful as Scrubbing Bubbles®. It’s specifically designed for mirrors, but it’s multi-purpose too. It can be used on bathroom fixtures made of chrome, plastic, vinyl and more.

I can clean the entire sink area, the mirrors, light switch plates, baseboards and doorknobs with it. The wipes are convenient because they go right in the trash after use. Not having to wash cleaning rags also saves me time and energy when prepping for guests.

After everything is wiped clean, I vacuum the floors, moulding and ceiling. Once the bathroom is deep cleaned I bring in candles, decor and fresh flowers.

I wanted something that would stand out on my bathroom sink so I pulled together this fall themed hurricane vase.

To make it I used river rocks, a hurricane vase, and a pumpkin.

Next I made sure my hurricane vase was shiny and clean by wiping it with a Windex®  wipe.

Then, I filled the bottom of the vase with river rocks to bring in some of that fall outdoor theme.

Once had enough rocks in the bottom I placed my pumpkin on top of them.

I switched out most of the decor in the bathroom to give it a more earthy feel. Here’s my bathroom before.

And here it is after I decorated with fall colors.
