I’m so excited about all of the home improvement projects we have going on. We just installed new flooring in our master bedroom and absolutely love how it turned out.
We are not professional by any stretch of the imagination, just two YouTube watching, weekend warriors. Now that the bedroom is done, we are moving our attention upstairs.
This weekend we hit a few flooring and furniture stores to gather ideas.
We’ve decided we don’t want to install the hardwood upstairs flooring ourselves.
The reason for our decision is that we want to flooring nailed to the subfloor instead of floating it and don’t want to tackle cutting the wood and nailing it. So we are having the professionals come in.
We started with Carpet One, which is locally owned. They had a large selection and we found several styles we liked. I created a mood board to help us remember them, and see how they’d look with our furniture and decor ideas.
Our living room connects to our kitchen and dining room. This is what the space looks like. My husband didn’t want me to show you our ratchet twelve year old carpet, but I told him, “we keep it real here on Aprons And Stilletos”, so you get to see the good, the bad and the ugly.
While we enjoyed learning how to install the floors downstairs, it took us months to complete the living room and den only being able to devote evenings and weekends.
This time, we’ll have the professional installers come in and get the job done in a day. Carpet One is running a promotion just for non DIY’ers.
Don’t Do It Yourself (#DDIY) Flooring Sale – Lee’s Promotion 3/6/15 – 4/19/15
- Up to 50% off select Lee’s carpets

Once our floors are installed, I’ll post an update. I’m also working on a big reveal of my master bedroom, but we need a few more key pieces.
Right now we are shopping for:
- nightstand tables because these are too big now
- a mirror for the wall behind our bed
- a television
- a 7×10 area rug
- recliners (2)
- throw pillows
And, let me know what you’d add to my inspiration room.
