I remember when we moved into this house 17 years ago. I was in my mid twenties and we’d built this house from scratch. I was so excited to be a homeowner and that each of my children would have their own bedrooms.
This bedroom was originally my oldest son and youngest daughters bedroom when they were babies. As our family grew and our children got older everyone got moved around over the years.
With just two kids at home full-time this room is now my home office. I love having a work space I can call my own. I’ve run my business from home for the past 12 years and have always had a space, but this one os my favorite.
This north facing room get great light making it perfect for my photography sessions.
So my office is a hodgepodge of my oldest daughters furniture. The bookshelf and desk were purchased for her bedroom over a decade ago. It’s really cheap particleboard but its held up pretty well. I’m not in love with it, but it does the job. I’m a very frugal money manager and it takes a lot for me to part with my cash. Right now, were saving up to pay cash to build our next home so I’m holding off on investing in the office style I want.
For now, I make what I have work. One way is by decorating with things I already own. I’ve changed this office around alot, swapping paint color, decor, flooring and furniture location.
I recently moved my desk to this wall, but felt like the wall above my desk was missing something.
I wanted something inspiring there so I shopped my home and decided to hang this framed print.
Its a faux version of Ellis Wilson’s “The Funeral March” that hung on the living room wall of the Cosby Show studio home.
It’s smaller than what I want for the space, but it works for now.
