Do it Yourself

Master Bedroom Sitting and Media Area Update

I am so excited about our master bedroom makeover. We are in the final stretch and should be completely done by May.
I’m sure if we were paying for it all with credit cards we could just charge it now and pay for it later, but we live below our means and pay cash for everything.
So let’s look at what we’ve done so far.

  • repainted the room from a dark charcoal grey to a lighter neutral
  • pulled up the carpet
  • painted the doors from black to white
  • installed new light fixtures
  • installed new flooring
  • added quarter round to the floor molding
  • DIY’d our headboard

This bedroom has gone from a dark dungeon like feel to a bright, neutral, haven.

When it’s all said and done, my accent color will be a bold turquoise. I’ve already begun bringing in lighter versions of the color just to warm my husband up to the idea. I don’t just want to pop it on him at once.

Turquoise is one of my favorite colors and I plan to have pops of it throughout my entire home. So far I have some in my den decor and even in my holiday decorations.

Our bedroom is a work in progress. We save and buy what we want.

Our most recent purchase were these nightstand tables, but we still have a few more items to buy before the room is complete.

We still have the other end of the room to finish up as well. Here’s what it looked like in the process of being painted.

Now that the hideous carpet is up and everything painted, the room looks so much better.

In the next few weeks I hope to cross of everything on that “To-Do” list below.

Once the room is completely finished I’ll share some final pictures. The next room we’re supposed to update is our living room and guest bathroom, but the bathroom may take a backseat to an outdoor project I want to tackle.

I want to hang sheer curtain around the deck we built last year, so I may do that before I tackle the bathroom.

Spread the love
