Layered Kale and Tropical Fruit Smoothie

I am going to help all of us get and keep our sexy figures this year with all of the delicious smoothie recipes I’ve been sharing lately. With so many great recipes, there’s no reason we should exclusively be snacking on unhealthy junk.

Junk food doesn’t give us the fuel or energy we need, nor does it help us get closer to our fitness goals. All it does is fill an immediate craving and in the end sabotages us.

And we don’t want that right?

One of the ways to ensure you’re eating a mix of healthy snacks is by being intentional about what is in the snack section of your menu. Of the seven days in a week, just make sure most of them include a healthy snack like this Layered Kale and Tropical Fruit Smoothie.

To make it I used my NutriBullet PRO 900. This machine is super powerful and compact. I love that it takes us so little space on my counter and is able to break down tough ingredients in seconds. I got mine around Christmas and love how easy it is to use. When you’re ready to order one, use my exclusive link and you’ll save 15% on the PRO 900 and get free shipping.

One of the first recipes I made using the NutriBullet, was a Layered Kale and Tropical Fruit Smoothie. I wanted a smoothie something packed with iron and full of energy.

Layered Kale and Tropical Fruit Smoothie

To make this smoothie I used dark leafy greens and bright yellow fruit.

  • 1/2 cup of Organic Kale
  • 1/2 cup of Organic Spinach
  • 1 cup of frozen Organic Tropical fruit (peaches, mango, pineapple)
  • 1 Banana
  • 2 cups of Almond milk or protein
  • 1 cup of Ice
  • Honey (optional)
1. Place kale, spinach, 1 cup of almond milk, half of the banana, and 1/2 the ice in the NutriBullet Pro 900, 32oz Colossal Cup. If you want a sweeter green smoothie add some honey. Blend for one minute until smooth. Fill four 8 ounce glasses halfway with the green smoothie. Place in the freezer for 10 to 15 minutes.
2. Place frozen Tropical fruit, remaining banana, one cup of Almond milk and remaining ice into the NutriBullet Pro 900, 24oz Tall Cup. Blend for one minute until smooth. Place in the fridge until the green smoothie sets up. Remove the green smoothie filled glasses from the freezer and fill the rest of the way with the tropical smoothie.

If you’ve never had a green and find the taste too strong, consider mixing all of your ingredients versus layering them. The sweet fruit mix with the bitter greens creates a smooth flavor for those new to green smoothies.
