Kids Concert Summer Jam

This at home Kids Concert Summer Jam is inspired by the #PringlesSummerJamSweeps and is sponsored by Pringles®.
When you were younger did you enjoy beating on things and making music?

My kids certainly did and for them it started in the kitchen. I was a stay at home mom for as long as they can remember and with four little ones under foot I had to be constructive with how I’d keep them occupied.

When I’d cook, I pull out pots, pans, plastic bowls and wooden spoons and let them have at it. I’d be preparing a meal or washing dishes while they beat on objects to their hearts content.

They still enjoy making music and signing together. I often listen to them harmonizing while doing chores and get a kick out of it.

Instead of playing video games this afternoon I encouraged them to put on a concert. They pulled out their instruments and some Pringles® cans to use as drums.

I told them about a video I watched about Pringles® Percussion Prodigies, Ulysses and Spanky, battling it out using instruments made from Pringles® cans.

These two aren’t the only ones doing extraordinary things musically, there are a group of musicians of varying styles and backgrounds – called the Percussion Prodigies – who have incorporated repurposed Pringles® cans into their musical expression.

It was really fun watching the artist, but not as fun as watching my own children come up with beats and songs at our mini concert.

My kids have picked up the phrase “______ more summers until I go off to college”. The phrase makes me happy and sad because I know kids have to grow up, but it feels like a countdown. The reindeer has inspired me to be more intentional about making the most of the summer’s we have left.

  1. My brother and I would make up songs or stories and then make my poor parents sit through them lol they were good sports

  2. Children often enjoy making things artistically. As a child I made crochet hooks from hangers and taught the other kids in the neighborhood to crochet.

  3. They grow up so darn fast! My only child is 22 years old and expecting her first child in December. Yikes! Anyway, my favorite childhood memory is spending summers in the pool with my friends. It was a blast!

  4. Awww your kids are darling. It must feel like a countdown for you. My oldest daughter does the same, but with school years. My husband and I realized a year or so ago that we have less years left with her now before she heads to college than what we have had with her in past years. She's 11 now. Stop growing!

  5. Looks like a PARTY!!! We love Pringles and the cans can totally become a great craft project.

  6. Now that is a fun jam session! Kids and Pringles you cannot go wrong! What a great time!

  7. I have so many fun memories from childhood. Mine are mostly outside memories…boy did we spend a lot of time out!

  8. Ah! I have always loved Pringles! It's great to see the kids having great fun. That's what Summer's all about, right? 3 months of fun!

  9. How fun is that! I cannot wait until my kids are a bit older and more imaginative.

  10. What a cute idea! And I would happily volunteer to eat the Pringles so each container would make a different sound 🙂

  11. I love how carefree my childhood Summers were, no pressures and lots of playing outside!

  12. Pringles cans make for such a great drum! I think it's so creative that your kids were having fun making their own music…beating their own drum!

  13. Pringles Cans made the pefect Drums back in the day .. I can see why these are still fun

  14. thanks for sharing I will share with my daughter. I so agree the creativity of children is awesome and something I would love to capture and keep.

  15. I love the creativity that comes with childhood. Looks like a fun band!

  16. We love having dance parties since my daughter was born. It is one of our favorite things to do. I love letting her bang away on bowl, pots and pans. Great idea with the Pringle Cans.

  17. All of my memories from childhood are fun. I can't really remember any terrible ones. I cherish them all as my mom passed away when I was 16, so those memories I hold dear to me and remember fondly. – Jeanine

  18. This is so awesome!
As kids, we would totally pretend we were in a band. Or we'd pretend we were that old show, "Dance Party USA."
