How I Motivate Myself to Exercise | Gym to Street Style

I have a love-hate relationship with fitness y’all! I love the results of working out but I hate working out. Well, I hate getting up and going to the gym, but once I get going I’m so glad that I went. My biggest motivation is the fact that I reward myself for reaching my goals. How I Motivate Myself to Exercise

To get myself excited and consistent with working out, I had to find out what would compel me to actually go. For me it’s shopping for fitness gear. I don’t do a lot of random shopping. The way my budget is set up, I just feel like I have enough clothes and there are so many other things I’d rather do with my money than wear it.

However, I do take advantage of my love of shopping, frugality and abhoration for exercise by using these as tools. Once I figured out how to mix my love of shopping with my hate for exercising I became more consistent.

When reach my goal and get the chance to shop for fitness gear, it has to be super cute plus functional. To pass my standard, it has to be something I can wear at the gym and while running errands.

The outfit I just bought fits that bill to the tee! The first level of flyness is this “I’m not bossy, I am the boss!” racer back tank. When I saw it I had to have it. It is so dope and comfortable too. A fly gym tee is a must-have for me when it comes to flawless gym to street style.

The capris I’m wearing are not just cute, but functional. The stretchy mesh pockets give me a place to store my phone or my hands. And the sheer cute outs are so dope and on-trend. To make sure my outfits is super street friendly, I pair it with comfy sneakers and a functional gym bag. These sneakers are my second most comfortable pair. They are made of mostly flexible fabric versus leather. That allows me to workout out and run errands all day without foot pain. I top the look off with some shade, earrings and a necklace. I keep some inexpensive costume jewelry in my gym bag to throw on if I need to run the streets after working out. Take a peek at the full look below.

  1. We both seem to be on to fitness, I also love the tee. Let’s do some exercise together. Thanks for sharing.

  2. I love the tee! We have the same relationship with the gym once I get there I’m fine, it’s the getting there that hurts. Thank you for your insight I know I’m not alone.

  3. Great entrepreneurial shirt! As someone who works for themselves I would rock this tee!

  4. Cute exercising tee. After reaching 30, I’ve had to make fitness a priority and not just something I do in my spare time.

  5. This outfit is really cute and you are rocking my favorite color combo. I’m so into this look, I wold rock to go the gym and Target.

  6. Cute Outfit!!! I have just started on a plan to eat better, and hopefully add in working out! Its crazy because I was an athlete many moons ago, but I guess if you dont keep it up you lose it!!!

  7. I’ve lost 20lbs over the last 4 months and I’m trying to lose 10 more lbs. I’m always looking for new workout clothes and this outfit is very cute!

  8. Yes!! The right outfit is always a great motivator when it comes to fitness

  9. This outfit is so cute on you. It would have to come in plus size for me to wear it but I definitely would. I live for comfort when I am out walking or running errands.

  10. I need motivation for fitness routine as well. I love the outfit. I think for me it would be to have a buddy!

  11. I also have a love/hate relationship with working out. Having cool workout gear – as strange as it may sound – is a huge booster. I prefer longer shirts though to cover my derriere, otherwise I feel like everyone is waiting for me to walk past them so they can look at it. LOL!!

  12. Great post! I have a like/dislike relationship with fitness. In my mind I want to take weekly yoga classes in cute designed leggings. My body has other thoughts. Lol
