How I Grew My Edges with Women’s ROGAINE®

Over the next twelve weeks I am going to document how I grew my thinning edges with Women’s ROGAINE®

For those of you wondering what edges are, it’s what some people refer as a hairline. The soft, tender hairs around my hairline are slowly thinning and leaving me with the appearance of balding in certain spots.

Now, let me be completely transparent here. I’ve tried Women’s ROGAINE® a few years ago, but didn’t stick with the regimen. I used it for about a week and stopped for one reason and one reason only. I was scared my edges would fall out once I stopped using it. I watched a bunch of videos that say you pretty much have to use Women’s ROGAINE® the rest of your life or the hair you gain will begin to shed and thin again.

That scared me. To imagine losing the little bit of edges I had at the time was horrific to think about. Guess what though…? When I look back at that first Women’s ROGAINE® post two years ago, my edges were thicker. Look at them beautiful edges.

I didn’t use the product two years ago and now my edges have thinned even more. It’s crazy because I thought they were thin then, but they’re even thinner now as you’ll see in just a second.

“Left untreated, hair thinning can worsen over time; women can lose one-sixth of their hair density in a period of 10 years”. source: ROGAINE®

So here I am attempting to thicken my edges using Women’s ROGAINE®, but this time I’m sticking with it.

I’m using ROGAINE® because it’s the most popular in the hair regrowth space and because I’ve seen a lot of YouTubers experience success especially around the hairline where mine is thinning.

My edges are pretty much thinning due to hereditary reasons.

The hair is thinning in the same spots as my dad and brothers. A few of my female aunts and cousins even have a similar hairline to mine. It’s a hairline that appears to begin further back on the forehead because the hairs around the hairline are thin.

“Contrary to common belief, the leading cause of hair loss among women is genetics or Hereditary Female Pattern Baldness (90% of cases) and not stress. Hereditary Hair loss can come from either the mother or father’s side of the family”. source: ROGAINE®

My situation is not life threatening, it’s just something I want to see if I can improve. I don’t always want to wear bangs to cover my thin hairline so I’m going to see if I can thicken it up using Women’s ROGAINE®. Here are some closeups of the areas I’ll be targeting.

From watching YouTube videos I don’t expect to see a huge difference after 12 weeks. It seems like the biggest difference is seen after 24 weeks. My goal is and has always been healthy hair and I don’t feel like my hairline is as healthy as it used to be.

I’m very excited to see how my hairline improves over the next 12 to 24 weeks, but will be just fine if it doesn’t. Female Hereditary Hair loss is common and a normal part of aging and I’m prepared to accept the results either way. I’ll be applying ROGAINE® directly to my scalp, once a day and will come back and show you what my progress has been on September 19th.

Here are a few more shots of my hairline and how I styled my thinning hair in an updo.

      1. That's a very interesting testimonial and good photos. I've never tried it but, I have a friend who'd enjoy reading about your experience.

      2. I know quite a few people who have had a lot of success with women's Rogaine. I hope that you have the regrowth that you are looking for.

      3. My hair started thinning after the pregnancy and my hairline looked awful. I started taking vitamin D3 and some Omega 3-6-9 and I'm having a lot of new peach fuzz!

      4. Awwwww glad to hear this is working for you!!!!! My hubby is losing hair and the men's version works pretty good for him!

      5. I have definite thinning and my forehead is becoming higher and higher. I have thought about using Rogaine and may attempt it after having read this.

      6. I have not taken a close look at my hairline. Although my hair is not as thick as it was when I was younger, I always blamed it on age. I will have to check out Rogaine for Women and read more about the product. We have the gene for male pattern baldness (thank God I am a female!) and I don't want to grow old with a hairline that starts on the top of my head!

      7. I have some thinning in those spots because I've pulled my hair back for years and years. I'm glad Rogaine can make a difference.

      8. I have heard awesome things about it. Your hair does look great!
