Getting Invited to the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration

If you’re part of my tribe, you already know my family and I are heading to Orlando in a few days for the 2016 Disney Social Media Moms Celebration.
Getting Invited to the Disney Social Media Moms CelebrationThe Disney Social Media Moms Celebration is a part conference, part vacation event, which celebrates digital influencers while including their families.

That’s why when I was invited, it was a no-brainer for us to go. Being able to involve my family is a huge priority.

After getting the invite we had to make some decisions, because the celebration is by no means  free. We are invited and have to pay for everyone who’s attending, but at a deeply discounted rate. From what I can tell so far, we are getting more for our money than what we’ve paid and we haven’t even gotten to the celebration.

We were booked at the Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, which is walking distance from Epcot, for four days and three nights. It’s a themed hotel with a nautical feel. Ever since we stayed at the Lowes Protifino in Orlando, I’ve fallen in love with themed resorts.

We also have a jam packed itinerary that includes one conference day, tons of special Disney events and time in the parks. Our cost includes lodging, some meals, 7-Day Magic Your Way Ticket with Park Hopper Option, FastPass+ and Magic Bands.

It will also include opportunities to meet influencers, take photos with characters, learn more about the Disney and connect with the brands sponsoring the conference.

There are even many other perks that have been included that we didn’t know about when we decided to go. From the time we R.S.V.P’d things like Memory Maker have been added to our reservations. I had my fingers, toes, arms, eyes and legs crossed, anticipating they’d add that to our package. With Memory Maker, I don’t have to worry about taking pictures while we’re at Disney. They have professional photographers that will snap pictures of us, edit and upload them to our My Disney Experience account.

How fab is that?

That perk alone is such a burden off my shoulders being I’m the family photographer. I’ll still snap pictures, but it won’t feel like I’m working to get great pictures for my blog. I can just relax and enjoy myself.

Another unexpected surprise was a package from American Tourister, one of the conference sponsors. I had no idea they’d be sending attendees a suitcase let alone a Disney inspired one.

How gorgeous is it you guys?!?

I had already packed my things when it arrived six days before our departure date, but that didn’t stop me from transferring everything into this beauty.

I am going to show you guys a tour of this suitcase only because it’s perfect. I’m not just saying that. I bought a really nice, expensive carryon for this trip but love this one more and I’ll share the why’s in a later post.

For the past month, we’ve been preparing to go by doing several things. First, we broke the news to our kids which we didn’t want to do. We never tell our kids when or where we are going on vacation.

In our experience, they either bug us for weeks for more details about the trip or sulk because it’s not where they want to go. This time, we had to tell them we were going because we are taking them out of school to go. We broke it to them while playing a game of hangman. The puzzle read, “We are going to Disney World in 28 days”. My camera cut off several times but here’s a clip of when my daughter realized what the puzzle said. Also watch my youngest son’s expression. He and my oldest son, knew they would end up online so they worked hard to keep their composure.

In the last four weeks, my husband and I have been racking up rewards to offset the cost of meals not provided in our package. We’ve been using Swagbucks and Shopkicks. It’s been so easy earning rewards while doing things like walking into stores and using the internet.

How to fund your Disney vacation using Shopkicks
    1. Open a Shopkick account (FREE) and open the app whenever you enter a participating store.
You’ll be alerted when there are walk in kicks or kicks to be earned by scanning products.

    2. Track your reward balance and available gift cards.

    3. Once you meet a gift card threshold, cash out.
    4. Use your gift card code at local stores to buy Disney gift cards.

This is a really special event for us since my husband and children will be coming along. I think it’s truly and epic opportunity to be able to include them and have them reap the rewards of what I do for a living. I will be sharing updates of our travels on both YouTube and Instagram. This will be my way to connect with you guys while I’m there and share a glimpse behind the curtain at Walt Disney World. Be sure to follow me on those two platforms so we can chat.
