Using a rolling cart in the dining room to create a storage area for breakfast and snacks will make our virtual school year run a whole lot easier. Today I’m collaborating with Publix and Bimbo Bakeries to show you how I stocked our back to school food cart using some our new favorite products. Go ahead and hover over the shopabble image below to learn more about these products and to click through to Publix for purchasing.
While this school year will certainly be different from years past for most families, we’re trying to keep some things the same. I homeschooled intermittently during elementary, middle school and high school so having the kids at home during the school year is normal for me. This year we aren’t homeschooling but everyone will attend virtually.
With everyone at home from school having the week’s breakfast, lunch and snacks organized and visible will make meal time simpler for everyone. During the school week I’ll keep the cart stocked with continental breakfast options, easy lunch, and snacks. Publix has some really great options on sale right now that make stocking up for the school week easy. They have Arnold® Organic Kids White made with Whole Wheat Bread featuring Disney’s Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse and Thomas’® Mini Croissants that we’ll use for breakfast and lunch sandwiches. The bread can be used for breakfast to make anything from buttered toast to loaded avocado toast while the croissants can be filled with eggs or jams. At lunch time, sliced bread or mini croissants can be filled with deli meat or tuna.
Every meal will be paired with a snack. For breakfast we’ll eat fruit and during lunch we’ll pair sandwiches with Entenmann’s® Minis Brownie Chocolate Chip Cakes or a pack of Thomas’® Pick Me Ups soft-baked oatmeal squares.
Here’s a link to the Publix coupon hub to save $.75 on any one (1) Entenmann’s®, Arnold®, or Thomas’® product. All of these are available using grocery delivery and/or pickup, so convenient, especially if you’re currently not shopping in store.
This is the little three tiered cart I use. It’s the perfect size and holds all of our shelf stable options and dishes. On the top shelf I have the New Thomas’® Mini Croissants. What I like about these is that they are made of a flakeless dough. Because they don’t flake, there’s no big mess to clean on the cart each morning. Every bag has 19 rolls which lasts our family of four about a week.
I also keep sliced bread on the top tier of the cart for sandwiches and toast. On my cart I have the NEW Arnold® Organic Kids White made with Whole Wheat Bread. This is a great way to make the switch to whole wheat bread if you have picky eaters. My kids have been eating whole wheat bread since they were toddlers so they love it. This one is soft, smooth and slightly sweet bread baked for picky eaters making it a great introduction to whole wheat with the look of white bread.
Arnold® Organic Kids White made with Whole Wheat Bread is baked with simple ingredients, it’s plant-based and lists Whole Grains as first ingredient. It’s also free from artificial preservatives, colors or flavors.
On the second shelf are the snacks and my kids favorite shelf. Each week I’ll have two to four snacks for our family to choose from. These sweet Entenmann’s® Minis Brownie Chocolate Chip Cakes are perfect for the cart because they are individually wrapped meaning they stay fresher, longer, are mess free, and allows everyone to eat them over time. The cakes are a combination of sweet chocolate chip cookie and brownie making them great for a snack or as a dessert! We all loved these especially my kids. They’re a soft, sweet mix of cake and brownie that’s delicious after a meal.
I got Thomas’® Pick Me Ups soft-baked oatmeal squares primarily for me, but I know my kids will enjoy these too, so it’s a win-win for me and them.If you’ve been a follower of mine for over five years, you know how much I love baked oatmeal. I used to make it from scratch weekly when I homeschooled. The Thomas’® Pick Me Ups soft-baked oatmeal squares come with five pouches per box and are available in two delicious flavors. I got Trail Mix to have with my coffee or with lunch. They’re made with real seeds, cranberries and chocolate chips and have just enough squares in each pouch to satisfy my sweet craving. The grab and go pouches make Thomas’® Pick Me Ups soft-baked oatmeal squares the perfect anytime, anywhere snack.
In the mornings when I get up before everyone to make my coffee, I’ll set out the breakfast fixings: eggs, yogurt, butter and jams. In the afternoons, I’ll bring out tuna, deli meat and bagged salad.
Whether your kids will attend face to face, virtual or hybrid school this year it’s up to us to create a new norm for them. For us that begins with bringing in some things they are familiar with; like tasty breakfast, lunch and snack options from Bimbo Bakeries and early morning chats with mom.
