My husband and I are celebrating 14 years of marriage this September and one reason we still have the hot’s for each other is because we work at it.
Forget all those hot, steamy, intimate scenes you see on television. It’s not an accurate depiction of long lasting marriages. A more accurate picture would be a couple like Germaine and I making a conscious effort to fall in love with one another all over again everyday.
We keep the passion alive with small gestures like planned dates. Our dates become even more important around potentially stressful times.
During the Fall my evenings are especially busy. We have structured dinner times, homework and school schedule responsibilities. Knowing my schedule demands, I’ve put together a date jar to encourage time together this fall. I’ll show you what’s in my jar and share some ideas on other things to put in your jar.
I used a heart template and decorative tape to dress up my envelopes. Then I filled them with cash, gift cards, and tickets.
I also put things like in our jar like K-Y® LOVE Passion Pleasure Gel to encourage intimacy.
When my schedule is booked to capacity it’s easy to cross intimacy off the list, but that’s not good for a healthy and balanced marriage. Intimacy is good, it’s important, and something we have to be intentional about.
K-Y® LOVE Passion Pleasure Gel helps when I’m tired, overwhelmed and having a hard time getting ‘in the mood’.
My husband is also helpful in this area. In the days leading up to our date night he makes sure the kids and house are taken care of. His attention to detail is so important in helping me get out of mommy or work mode and into wife and lover mode.
Watching him take on my responsibilities makes me excited about a physical connection, and sets my mind at ease.
Here are a few additional ideas for what to put in your jar.
