These bagels just took me back to my high school days growing up in New York City. My high school was two blocks from the 59th Street and Columbus Circle Station. I loved going to school in the city. Between the train station and my school, there were at least 5 food trucks and three delicatessens. I’ve eaten a bagel from them all. New York City has the best bagels I’ve ever had. They are nothing like the bagels I get in the South. In the South, when I order a bagel, I’m given a toasted bagel, a .05 ounce package of cream cheese, and jelly.
That’s the bagel.
In New York when I order a bagel, I get a soft warm bagel with at least two tablespoons of cream cheese and a spoon of grape jam. And when I’d order the bacon and cheese bagel, it came sizzling hot with melted cheese oozing out and several strips of savory bacon. I could taste the love in every bite.
The only thing that kept everything in-between the two bagel slices, making it a great on-the-go breakfast, was the heavy white paper it was wrapped in.
I’d been craving those bagels from my childhood and decided to recreate them at home. To make them on-the-go friendly, I wrapped each bagel in a full size Brawny® Tear-A-Square® paper towel sheet. Using Brawny® Tear-A-Square® sheets is one of the ways I save time making breakfast. With three sheet sizes to choose from, I can use what I need to prep meals on, wrap food in, dry my hands, and clean up. The flexible sheet sizes (full, half, and quarter) allow me use just what I need without the waste.
When I make bagels and sandwiches, the quarter size is perfect. It has the right amount of surface area to put my bagel together before popping it in the toaster oven
The quarter size, as well as the half size, are perfect for small cleanups, like wiping crumbs and disinfecting my prep spaces.
I’m no longer a New Yorker, but I still love the city memories from my childhood. I no longer hop off the train and grab bagels at the deli. Now, I make them for myself after I workout, and I make them for my kids. It’s the perfect on-the-go breakfast sandwich that has no boundaries.
We are looking forward to getting out early in the morning to enjoy the South Carolina summers with our teens. Brawny® Tear-A-Square® is a perfect wrapping for our on-the-go breakfast bagels. Using a whole sheet to wrap our bagels makes them easy to eat on the way out the door, to the pool, or to school.
This breakfast is perfect on-the-go or at home. When we’re at home and I’m not in the mood for washing dishes, a full Brawny® Tear-A-Square® sheet is perfect to wrap my bagel in and a half sheet is the perfect size for my utensils.
