I have wanted to make Chicken Fries or Chicken Fingers as some people call them at home for ever. I tried making them in the oven once and failed miserably. But because I love a good challenge I didn’t let that deter me. I went online and researched some of the best techniques for making them and got to work.

My love of Chicken Fries comes from how they remind me of summers growing up in Queens. My dad would take us to this one restaurant that sold burgers with onions and I hated eating there. It wasn’t until on day I saw Chicken fries on the menu, tried them and fell in love with the concept. Let’s just say, I was dipping Chicken Fries in ketchup every summer of my childhood since then.

When pairing Chicken Fries with a dipping sauce I keep it simple and use ketchup only. I tried honey mustard and barbecue and they just seem to complicate the flavor especially for me as a kid. Ketchup is the only things I dip chicken fries, strips or tenders in and for this recipe I used Hunt’s thickest, richest, best ever Ketchup!

Hunt’s Best Ever Ketchup has become my go-to brand. It’s often on sale and when it’s not, I can always find it reasonably priced at Walmart and add it to my weekly Walmart Online Grocery order. Now that I’ve perfected this recipe I’m ready to include it in our summer meal plans. I want to spend the rest of my life eating food I love and introducing my children and grandchildren to my favorite foods from childhood. My favorite foods are all archived under my recipe tag, however, you can find more ideas on FoodYouLove.com.

To make the recipe I used Hunt’s Best Ever Ketchup for dipping, 1 pound of lean ground chicken, 1 cup of flour, 1 cup of breadcrumb, 3 eggs and dried seasoning.

The process of coating the chicken fries requires a separate bowl for the flour, bread crumb and eggs. I started by taking a little bit of seasoned ground chicken and rolling it into the shape of a french fry. Once the chicken fries were formed I made an assembly line with the bowls of flour, egg and breadcrumb and coated each Chicken Fry. I started by rolling the chicken in the flour, then in the egg and finally in the breadcrumb.Easy Chicken Fries

Once they were all coated I put them in the freezer for 20 minutes to let them firm up. This step made it easier to drop them into the deep fryer without them falling apart.Easy Chicken Fries

Once they were cooked I let them drain and cool in the fry basket and placed them in a wax paper bag. This was an after-school meal for my kids so sorting them into bags makde it simple for them eat while they told me about their day.Easy Chicken Fries

These Chicken fries were love at first bite. They taste amazing alone, but by dipping them in Hunt’s Best Ever Ketchup, I get another layer of flavor. The ketchup is super thick so it sticks to the Chicken Fries perfectly and that tangy vinegar flavor is just what these need. Hunt’s Best Ever Ketchup is sweetened with cane sugar versus high fructose corn syrup only has the following six ingredients on the label: tomato, cane sugar, vinegar, salt, onion powder and natural flavors.Easy Chicken Fries

I highly recommend giving this recipe a try if you’re a Chicken Fries lover and want to make them at home. The recipe is very easy to follow and I’m here to answer any questions you may have about the recipe.
