DIY Kids Movie Night Snack Packs

It’s time for a movie night tutorial. My DIY Kids Movie Night Snack pack tutorial and shopping trip has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser, Walmart Family Mobile. All opinions are mine alone. #DataAndAMovie #FishAndFlicks #CollectiveBias

Here’s another fun movie night tutorial sponsored by Walmart Family Mobile.

We’ve had our kids phone line set up on Walmart Family Mobile for almost three years now. We love their reasonable pricing and freedom to cancel at anytime.

Right now we are using their Walmart Family Mobile Plus plan that includes:

  • unlimited talk
  • unlimited text
  • 10GB of data
  • 4G LTE
  • plus we get a free movie credit to use on VUDU every month for $49.88 per line.

This month were using that VUDU credit to watch Finding Nemo. The sequel, Finding Dory, comes out on June 17th and since the movies are connected, we needed to wanted to watch Nemo again.

To make our night special I made movie night snack packs. To make them here’s what I used.

Supplies

  • cellophane bag kit
  • scissors
  • hot glue gun & hot glue sticks
  • party cup
  • bubbles
  • shredded paper
  • glow stick toys
  • washi tape

Since we’re watching Finding Nemo, I included bubbles and Swedish Fish in our snack packs. You’ll see Swedish Fish has new packaging, but are the same fish.

To make the snack part easy, I bought a 1.9 lb. bag of Swedish Fish from Walmart. They’re $4.88 on Rollback and can be found near the checkout aisle. They’re on a special display which I shared a picture of at the very end of this tutorial.

I used cellophane to create one small bag and one large bag for this project.

1. To make the two bags, first I cut away six squares from a large cellophane bag as demonstrated in picture #1. I ended up using three squares from a large cellphone bag for the entire movie snack kit and one square for our candy snack.

2. Next I sealed up all but one open edge on my cellophane bags using a hot glue gun.

3. Then I fill the smaller bags with Swedish Fish. These are one of my favorite candies. I remember when I’d pay a penny each at the candy store. That’s back in the day when a penny could buy something.

Once the bag is nice and full I stapled the bag shut and added a piece of decorative card stock to finish off the candy pack.

The last step was to tuck everything into the larger bag and seal it with with staples and washi tape. Here’s what the complete bags look like.

Using our free Vudu movie credit was easy too. We were able to pull up VUDU on our blu ray player and watch the movie on the television in our family room.

Family movie nights at home are one of our best ways to save money. Another way is by keeping our mobile cost down by using Walmart Family Mobile cheap mobile plans.

If you’re considering Walmart Family Mobile, they have phones for under $20. My kids have a Cool Pad Rogue which I bought them for $19.88 on Rollback from $39.83. If you don’t already have WFM service, you’ll need a starter kit. “The Starter Kits are cheaper than before and now on rollback for just 19.88”. (– from $25) The offer lasts until July 7th.
