DIY Father's Day Jersey
Father’s Day will be here before we know it and I want to make it uber special for my husband. He’s an amazing dad and deserves to be pampered on his special day. His gifts will include things he needs and things he wants. He’ll also get a gift from me and one from the kids. The one from the kids will be this DIY Father’s Day Jersey. It’s made using the softest tee ever. I could have gone cheap, but I really wanted my babe to feel comfy when he wears his Father’s Day gift.

The tee I used is from the NEW 3-Pack of Hanes® Superior Soft T-shirts. It’s made with a Cotton-Modal blend that offers superior comfort. When my youngest son felt the finished tee, he remarked on how soft the tee was and he could care less about softness, but still noticed.

Hanes® Superior Soft T-shirts also includes FreshIQ™ advanced odor protection technology, quick drying and durable fabric which is perfect as we move into the hot summer months. If you’re going to make this project, don’t go with a cheap, rough tee. Spend the $12 and grab the 3 Pack of Hanes® Superior Soft T-shirts in Crewneck and V-neck, available at and

DIY Father’s Day Jersey

  • Hanes® Superior Soft T-shirt
  • heat transfer letters
  • black fabric paint
  • painter tape
  • paint brush

1. Tape off a sections 1 inch apart on each sleeve. Lay three strips of tape across the bottom of the shirt 1 inch apart.

2. Paint the space between the tape on the sleeve and the space between the tape at the bottom of the shirt. Allow it to dry completely. Flip the shirt and repeat the step for the sleeve on the back of the shirt. Allow it to dry completely.

3. Peel away the tape once the paint is dry and begin placing your iron on letters where you want them on the shirt. Iron them on per the package instructions.

4. Once the shirt has cooled for 10 minutes, it’s ready to wear. Since this is a gift for my husband I didn’t get him to take a picture with it on like I did when I made my DIY Graphic Tee.

The jersey style tee turned out so nice and I can’t wait to see my husband wearing it. To ensure the tee get’s plenty of wear, it’s best to wash this tee by hand of inside out on the gentle cycle. Once my husband get’s his gift I will share some pictures on instagram of him in it, but for now here are some pictures of the completed tee hanging up.

  1. I absolutely love the boy shorts I got from Target. And what do you know, they're actually hanes. They are super comfortable and fit like shorts instead of panties like some of the other brands.

  2. It's amazing what you can do with a plain white tee and some paint! It's actually a brilliant idea and I might try it myself and try out a few designs! Thank you for the inspo!

  3. I have a black soft maxi dress that I love to lounge in after a nice bubble bath. I love how easy this Father's Day gift idea is to create. I love the detailed and easy to follow instructions.

  4. I have a long sleeve Christmas tshirt that is so soft and comfortable. Even in the heat of summer you'll find me in that tshirt. It is perfect for those days I'm home all day!

  5. This is awesome and what a cute shirt for dad! DIY are so fun and so thoughtful! 🙂 My most comfortable clothing item is my sweat pants from high school. They are so comfy!

  6. I have an old flannel shirt that belonged to my mother, probably from the early 80s. It's almost see through it's so worn, but it is soft and comfortable.
