I became a grandmother 19 months ago and I just can’t get enough of my grandson. I talk to his mom, my oldest daughter, every single day.
As we talk I listen to him playing or jabber in the background. His voice has become a regular part of my week, thanks to technology and the Unlimited Talk, Text and Data/Web plan I have through Walmart #FamilyMobile.
He lives an hour and half from me, but that doesn’t keep us from connecting. My Alcatel One Touch Evolve phone makes it easy for me to video call or voice call with him.
The phone was easy to purchase and set up right inside Walmart.
Within minutes my phone was working and I was texting my number to my daughter.
With this being my first grandchild, I’m like a kid in a candy store. I want to know how he’s doing daily.
I was concerned, he wouldn’t know me as well as his grandmother that lives ten minutes from him, but because of technology and Walmart’s lowest priced unlimited plans, we have been able to connect in ways not possible without technology.
Walmart offers some pretty cheap wireless plans and inexpensive mobile phone options, especially for people like myself who are on a tight budget.
This whole motherhood thing is new to my daughter, but I’m here to help her daily through our calls and texts.
On the other hand being a grandmother is new to me, but I am learning how to stay connected to my grandson even when I can’t be with him physically.
Watching his eyes light up when we video chat is so amazing. To see that at such a young age, he recognizes my voice and face even though we only see one another once a month is so amazing.
He’s such a smart boy. When he’s here with me he already knows exactly how to access my phones home screen and click on icons. He’s even called me a few times from his mothers phone, but I think it was accidental.
All I heard was my phone ring and then his voice…baby talk and all. He eventually hangs up since he’s not even aware he’s making calls.
Having the ability to video call with my grandson yet still pay a reasonable price for my mobile service is a win-win situation for me, my daughter and grandson.
