From about the last week of June up until yesterday I was trying to figure out what I was going to wear for of family cookout.
I definitely wanted to wear red, white and blue but at first site couldn’t find the right combination based on what I had in my closet. I had a few hours before I needed to get dressed and my nails were in bad shape so I gave myself a quick mani and pedi using my 5 Step Easy DIY manicure tutorial.
Once my nails were dry I pulled out every red, white and navy blue article of clothing I had and was finally able to see some possibilities.
I decided on a white spaghetti strap tank and navy jeans from Forever 21, a stripped 3/4 sleeve cardigan, a white belt and red accessories.
It was hot and I knew I’d be back and fourth outside so I styled my hair pulled back away from my face. To create this style I twisted my hair into six chunky twist the night before.
This morning after untwisting them I applied Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie to my hair and the Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curling Souffle to just my edges.
I parted the front of my hair in fourths starting from front to back and stopping halfway before reaching the back. I created two flat twist with the top/center-most sections of hair and simply pinned the sides back behind my ears.
I went with a natural face and light make up because it was hot and I didn’t want mascara and heavy foundation melting off of my face. I used a very light application of the following.
For my face:
- Maybelline New York Instant Age Rewind in cocoa/dark #3 w/SPF18
- L’Oreal Paris True Match concealer in medium deep
- L’Oreal Paris True Match super blendable powder in cocoa/cool #8
For my eyes:
- lid: Cover Girl golden sunrise #445
- crease: Cover Girl brown smolder #740
- brow line: Cover Girl french vanilla #700
- black eye liner
Lips:
- brown lip liner
- lip gloss: Cover Girl Wet Slicks fruit spritzer in cool cocoa mint splash #555
This was a very casual fourth of July, red, white and blue outfit that was not to over the top. It’s very simple and one I can actually where anytime of the year so I’ll definitely recreate this outfit during the fall when the weather is cooler.
