Do it Yourself

Blog Income Report for January 2015

I am starting a new series here on Aprons And Stilletos that will highlight my monthly blog income. Let me start by saying, I am absolutely blessed to have a husband who provides for our family so that I don’t have to work. I’ve been a stay at home wife and mom since our children were 11, 4, 2 and 3 moths old. They are now 21, 14, 12 and 11.

I started A Proverbs Wife, a Christian family blog in 2008 and after about a year it went from being just a hobby to a source of part time at first, then later a full-time income.

In January 2014, I started Aprons and Stilletos to share more of the creative versus marriage and parenting side of homemaking.

Here I share how I’m decorating my home, beauty and fashion tips, what’s working for me in my exercise routine, recipes and so much more.

In conjunction with writing cool stuff, I get to work with awesome brands through affiliate marketing, ambassadorships and sponsored content.

That’s the completely awesome part of what I do. Not only do I get an insider’s peak into what brands are working on, I get to provide all kinds of fun content for you.

Monetizing my blog has helped me get closer to my goal of being 100% debt free by my 40th birthday. We don’t owe any debt aside from our mortgage so we may be able to reach our goal if my income continues to grow.

One thing I will tell you guys is that I’m a laid back entrepreneur. I don’t try super hard to make a lot of money. While I’d love to make six figures a year, I’ll only do it so long as it doesn’t require me working more that the few hours a week.

My primary focus is a wife and mom not an entrepreneur. Helping my husband reach our goals as a family, leave a legacy for our children and make an imprint on the lives of those around us is the most fulfilling thing I’ve ever done.

Being and entrepreneur is exciting. What I do is fun and provides extra money, but it doesn’t define me and to that I attribute my on-going success a business woman. I define my business. It doesn’t define me.

Let’s begin!

 Goals

My goal this year is to increase my blog traffic and social media numbers. There is something that excites me about knowing the things I share are useful to people.

To see someone pin a recipe or tutorial I created makes my heart flutter with excitement. So increasing my audience is a tad bit more important to me at this point than even increasing my income. I am certain the income will increase with the increase in numbers.

In the year since starting this site, I’ve seen significant growth and I will talk in a later post about why that was.

Here’s my traffic and social media statistics for January 2015.

    2. Wow, great job! I too was wondering if your stats/income was just for this blog or both? Your article was interesting to read and gave me some ideas on what to possibly do with my own blog. Thanks! ๐Ÿ™‚

    3. That's great to see that you're making a profit on your blog. I've actually cut back on doing lots of sponsored content. While I was making the money I didn't have much time for myself and I actually don't regret it one bit.

    4. You have set some excellent goals – you have a strong plan. I am sure you will be able to meet your goals.

    5. You are so awesome for sharing this with us. Such an inspiration! Thank you ๐Ÿ™‚

    6. I love being able to blog and work from home. I really can't imagine doing anything else anymore. It started off as a hobby and now it's so much more than that.

    7. It was interesting to read your income report and your plans for increasing earnings and service to your readers in the future. The income report is a great tool for accountability because you set goals and work towards them. It was interesting to read.

    8. Woohoo! You did good girl! Keep it up!! I feel like 2015 is going to be a great year for a lot of hard working bloggers like you!

    9. I am also thankful that my husband works. I love blogging and I think of it more has a hobby rather than a job.

    10. You are doing so well! It's going to be so refreshing to finally become debt free!

    11. Great job! Congrats! That is awesome that you are getting that much on sponsored posts!

    12. Wow you did an awesome job last month. I need to get more sponsored content.

    13. I need to get some more sponsored content! Awesome job!

    14. Those are some amazing stats. I will have to work on getting mine up to that point.

    15. Thank you for sharing this information. I just started my blog next week and I have no idea how to monetize it properly. I plan to use your information to get started with affiliate marketing.

    16. I love coming across great resources like this one for helping me to earn too. Also like your nice shout out to your hubby. ๐Ÿ™‚

    17. You've broken this down and make it sound so easy (and attainable!) to make some money off your blog per month. Great job in January, and I love how you're sharing your goals so you can hopefully reach them. And they all sound attainable!

    18. That is really great that you are sharing this. I keep track of my monthly income but need to write down my expenses as well, it will make a big difference.

    19. Wow! I like how transparent this was. I found it extremely helpful … it makes me want to work extremely hard. I would love to do a feature on my Blog about you look out for an E-mail from me

    20. Was your income from both sites, or just this one?
I'm super impressed with those numbers given your stats.
They seem really high. I'd be super curious for more detail if you're comfortable sharing. Thanks for this post. I appreciate it!

    21. Looks like it was a great month! I'm in the middle of monetizing my blog, and it's been a journey–since I'm a niche blog (travel), so many of the sponsored post opportunities I see floating around just don't fit my brand. I'll keep working on it!

      1. You could make a killing with affiliate marketing on your blog. I see tons of campaigns geared toward travel, but it's not my niche.

    22. So awesome that you are doing well and I hope you achieve your goals! I like your priorities towards the income as well. Congrats!

    23. That is awesome! Looks like you have some goals set which is what I need to be doing more of!

    24. Congrats on the success of your blog. I love your transparency and your perspective on what you do. Ultimately this should benefit your family! Excited to see how you grow alongside your blog. Wishing you nothing less than the best!

    25. That's awesome. I would love to get to the point where I was making that kind of money on my blog. Your hard work has certainly paid off.

    28. You are so organized!! I love it. I need to do a better job at this to see what my income from the blog is.

    29. I love that you write down your goals! For me, having my goals written down and adding my achieved stats helps give me a visual of where I am and where I want to be. Congrats on a successful month!

      1. Same here Jessica. Even when I was making just a couple of dollars a month, I wrote everything down. It's very helpful to determine where you are and make plans about where you want to go.

    30. Wow incredible results even with just a little bit into 2015! You are doing a stellar job–following you now to see your progress and be inspired by it ๐Ÿ™‚

    31. Thank you so much for sharing your journey so that we can all be inspired to keep on blogging along. Making a little bit of money to fuel this blogging obsession would be wonderful!

    32. Wow you are amazing. I Would love to be able to earn that kind of money to help with medical expenses.

    33. Good for you, but I guess I just don't understand why you would post this for everyone to see? My husband works for the IRS, so now that it's out there, you have to be very careful on your taxes ๐Ÿ˜‰

      1. I'm not worried about the IRS, my accounting is in order. When you're honest and transparent there's nothing to be careful about. I love reading blog income reports. They show readers what the possibilities are and provide insight on different types of revenue streams. ๐Ÿ™‚

    34. Thanks for sharing. This gives me hope that I can earn more than coffee money on my blog.

Let's continue to conversation in the comment section.
