Berry Smoothie Bowl with Ancient Grains

When I was a kid I never imagined I’d enjoy eating something as delicious and wholesome as a Berry Smoothie Bowl with Ancient Grains

Back then all I wanted was a large sweet bowl of  cereal before starting my day. Now that I’m wiser, I know breakfast needs to taste good, and be good for me. My creamy Berry Smoothie Bowl with Ancient Grains recipe meets all of the criteria for great breakfast and it only takes 5 minutes to make.

Every creamy spoonful is packed with whole grains, vitamins and minerals. In my recipe, fruit and greek yogurt provide the perfect sweet creaminess while the NEW Ancient Grains + Multi Grains Cheerios provides the crunch. 

I could have used any cereal in my recipe, but I use Ancient Grains + Multi Grains Cheerios for the variety of grains. This cereal is a combination Multi Grain Cheerios and ancient grains like KAMUT wheat, spelt, and quinoa.

A little bit added to the top of my smoothie bowl makes this breakfast feel like a grown up bowl of cereal.

When I made it the first time I was surprised at how full I felt after eating it. I thought I’d be hungry, but no. It was just right and perfect to eat before heading to the gym.

Since making my very first smoothie bowl, I have to say, I’m hooked. Simple smoothie bowls like this one only takes about 10 minutes to make.


Berry Smoothie Bowl with Ancient Grains
                                              Prep time 10 mins Total time 10 mins 

Berry and cereal smoothie bowls are low fat,  packed with fruit, and ancient grains like KAMUT wheat, spelt, and quinoa


  • 1/2 cup of plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • 1/4 cup of milk or vanilla almond milk
  • 1/4 cup of  frozen blueberries
  • 2 frozen strawberries


Add all smoothie ingredients to a blender or food processor and blend until creamy and smooth. You may need to add more milk to get a smooth and creamy consistency. 

I like to pour my smoothie into the bowl and pop it in the freezer for a few minutes before adding my fruit and cereal. It helps the smoothie bowl stay cold longer and keeps the cereal from sinking into the smoothie prematurely.
