DIY Gold Piggy Bank

Who doesn’t love a super easy DIY that can be completed in under 30 minutes? If you’ve never worked with spray paint before, this type of DIY is perfect for you. You can use ceramic piggy bank like I did or jazz up a ceramic a dish. I’ve used several metallic spray paints and I really like Krylon spray paint for metallic looks. To start, I removed the furniture protectors on each the pigs feet. Then I removed any stickers. Using cardboard to protect my surface, I placed my piggy bank dead center and covered it with an even coat of spray paint. I let it dry for about ten minutes, then applied a second coat.  After allowing the second coat to fully dry, I used a Sharpie [Click here to continue reading]

Den Tour Before and After | Flooring Install

We are working our way through improving our home, one project at a time.  One of our biggest projects to date was adding sheetrock to this room.  This room had flooded and just about everything needed repair. We finally got the walls up and now it’s time to move on to installing the floors. This room is our family room and main hub for movie nights so we were eager to get this project done. This room is prone to moisture, so we used moisture proof sheetrock. After much deliberation, we decided to install vinyl flooring since it too is waterproof.  The pieces interlocked easily and was very Do-It-Yourself’er friendly. It took us about three weekends to finish the installation.  We worked on it for a few hours [Click here to continue reading]

We are finally finished building our ground level deck. I can’t tell you in words alone how much I love this space, so let me share some pictures. For now we are keeping it simple because we must wait six months before painting it. To style it, I pulled together so decoration and furniture we already owned.  Between this year and next year, we’ll be on the lookout for an outdoor rug, curtains, more seating and buffet area. The deck sits right beside my flower garden and overlooks my back yard. It’s a shaded space which makes eating and spending time outdoors bearable in the hot Carolina heat. Here are some more pictures of the decor and view. We’re planning to paint the roof of the [Click here to continue reading]

20 Gift Ideas for those Who Love to Cook | Gift Guide

Y’all know how much I love to cook for my family and friends. Food is a great way to build the bonds of friendships and family. Having great kitchen tools makes creating those meals even easier. Here are some of my favorite tools from my own kitchen that save me time and make creating meals a task I look forward to. 1. Smart Ice Cream Scoop – Makes the perfect shaped ice-cream scoop every time. Plus the release mechanism means no prying the ice-cream scoop out. It’s not just good for ice cream. Target Home Decor Clearance: Nate Berkus, Threshold and more!

Target has quickly become one of my favorite home decor shopping destinations. They have so many top of the line designers creating products for them and it shows. One of my favorite designers is Nate Berkus. For the last four or more seasons, he has created some uniquely inspired pieces that I’ve loved. Whenever I can get something from his line on clearance I’m excited. Here are just a few of my recent Target home decor finds. I love the table below and was tempted to buy it, but the scratches and blemishes were a turn off. Knowing I’d have to spray paint them made the $35 clearance tag less appealing. I’m smacking myself for not grabbing one of these. They’d look beautiful in my [Click here to continue reading]
