One of the most rewarding things for me is saving money. Whether it’s getting a deeply discounted deal, or earning cash back through the Hopster Mobile Rebate App, I enjoy finding ways to stretch my coins especially during gift giving season. A few years ago, I challenged myself to pay for Christmas gifts completely debt free. To start, I committed to use only money saved to pay for Christmas gifts. Do you know that I fully funded not just one, but three consecutive Christmas’s doing that?
It was very simple to do once I got into the habit. I started by adopting to frugal habits. First, I grabbed a piggy bank and committed to save the change from every dollar I broke. When I’d shop and get coins back, I wouldn’t spend them. Instead of spending them, they’d go into a coin bank.
After that, I started thinking about how I could save money on purchases and ended up downloading the Hopster Mobile Rebate App. Hopster has been around for a while now. I chose Hopster because it fit seamlessly with my normal shopping habits. Hopster is one of the easiest rebate apps to use and let’s you start saving right away. With so many holidays coming up, now is the perfect time to download the app and started saving on groceries and household items with Hopster rebates.
- First, click here to visit Hopster’s website.
- Next, click on the link in the top right corner that says, “Download the App”. Once the app is on your phone sign in.
- Now, start looking through the offers and select the ones you want by clicking the “plus” in the top right corner.
- Then, shop at any participating retailer.
- Finally, snap a photo or your receipt using your mobile device. Submit it. Get cash back through your Paypal account.
Those two habits are ones you can begin doing today to decrease your holiday spending this gift giving season. Here are others you can work on throughout the year.
1. Start early
Planning your budget and gift list in advance. Starting as early as January of the new year gives you more time to shop around for deals and save up money to shop as you go. If you start using the Hopster Rebate app and saving your change today, imagine how much you will be able to accumulate in the next 12 months?
2. Make homemade gifts
Using a blog or video tutorial, you could absolutely make a gift for someone. Even if you’re not crafty you could easily grab a few of their favorite things and create a gift in a jar or gift basket.
I’ve gotten so many gifts that were just not a good fit for me. They are great things, but not things I want or can use. Last year I got two blenders and plan to gift one this year. My rule for regifting, is make sure it’s in pristine condition when it’s re-gifted.
4. Shop out of season
This is one of my favorite strategies. I just bought my daughter a present for $3, that was $14.99 all because it’s an out of season home decor item. It’s amazing what you can get if you’re willing to shop for things before you need them.
5. Shop often and year round
This is a great way to use your Hopster savings. Having my cash back from Hopster accumulating in my account, I was able to confidently shop when I spotted a deal. Having that money set aside, I knew I could spend it without worrying if it would affect my household budget.
