Where did you learn your skin care strategies? I learned mine from my mom between the ages of about four and eight years old. She didn’t make a list like the one I’m sharing with you today, but she allowed me to watch her do her skin care routine. I’d stand in the bathroom doorway, watching as she cleansed and moisturized her face. I’d study the products she used and breath in the delicious scents from each one as she applied them.

My mom was already stunning, but she seemed to glow after her facial routine. Those are the skin care memories that helped me come to value a good routine and also love my skin. I did the same things with my daughters when they were little, but now that they are young women, I do give them a strategy. What I didn’t know at that young age is that skin care is made up of more than just what you see your mom do in the bathroom mirror. It’s consistent habits and done daily that promote healthy beautiful skin.

If you don’t have a skin care routine or have young daughters this post is for you. Here are 5 practical skin care strategies I share with my daughters to promote a good skin care routine.

Hydrate internally and externally.

I teach my girls that skin hydration is two part process – internal and external. Getting plenty of water each day aides in organs functionality, digestion and healthy glands. When the insides are working well, you can see the results in an even skin tone and radiant glow. I encourage my girls to start with a cup of water first thing in the morning. The other part of the equation is hydrating from the outside using a daily face mist which you can make by mixing some herbal tea and hydrating oils like jojoba, sweet almond or vitamin E. Store it in a small spray bottle and use daily. — snap a glass of water and small spray bottle mister.

Keep your skin care products where you’ll use them.

Have you ever heard the saying, “out of sight, out of mind”? It means, if you don’t see it, you probably won’t think about it and that’s how it can be with skin care products. My daughter will often revert to using bar soap to wash her face when she doesn’t store her facial products where she can see them.

I remind her to keep her cleaner either in the shower or on her vanity. Storing it under the sink or in the medicine cabinet means she probably will forget to use it because it’s not in a convenient place.

Great skin care products don’t have to be expensive.

Clean & Clear® has a skin care line includes some of my favorite affordable recommendations for teens and young women. I stocked up on Clean & Clear® Morning Burst Cleanser with bursting beads® for back to school. Our Kroger store is fairly large, but the beauty aisle is very close to the entry and self-checkout. I was able to get in, grab what I needed, and off to my next errand quickly.

Cleanse daily.

Clean & Clear® Morning Burst Cleanser checks the a.m. cleansing box. It’s a Great Everyday Cleanser, with a light fresh citrus scent, that gently cleans and hydrates at the same time. It’s infused with Vitamin C and Ginseng to wake your skin up in the morning. The gel based formula helps prevent irritation while massaging it into skin. While you massage the soft BURSTING BEADS® burst with energy and vitamins, leaving your skin feeling clean, energized and ready to face the day.

Love and listen your skin.

Love the texture and the hue you were born with. There’s no sense in anyone coveting anything other than what they were born with. On the flip side, listen to your skin. If it’s dry or experiencing breakouts, it’s alerting you something is wrong. A good indicator of a balanced skin care routine is soft and radiant skin.
